Provincial nominee programs allow provinces and territories to select candidates for local economic needs. There is no single national PNP checklist: every stream has its own eligibility, intake method and evidence requirements.
Enhanced and base nominations
An Express Entry-aligned stream requires a valid Express Entry profile and federal program eligibility. A nomination accepted in the profile adds 600 CRS points. A base stream follows a non-Express Entry provincial process and then a separate permanent residence stage.
How provinces identify candidates
Some streams accept direct applications or expressions of interest; others issue notifications based on occupations, language, work, job offers, education or provincial connections. A profile in the federal pool is not automatically an application to every province.
Settlement intent must be genuine
A provincial nomination is linked to the province or territory that selected the applicant. Evidence may include employment, study, family, community ties, research and a realistic settlement plan. Answers should remain consistent from the provincial stage through permanent residence.
Watch stream-specific timing
PNP criteria, invitation scores, occupation lists and intake windows can change. Verify the province's official page before relying on a checklist, and preserve the nomination certificate, approval communications and profile deadlines.
