Meet the minimum requirements first
Before the 67-point grid is applied, the applicant must meet the program's minimum rules for skilled work experience, approved language testing and education. The qualifying work must fit the eligible NOC and TEER requirements and match the lead statement and a substantial number of main duties.
Understand the six selection factors
The grid assesses official-language ability, education, skilled work experience, age, arranged employment and adaptability. Each factor has its own maximum. Foreign education normally needs an immigration-purpose educational credential assessment, and language points come from valid approved test results.
Do not confuse FSW points with CRS
The 67-point calculation determines whether a person may qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. CRS is a separate ranking system used after an eligible profile enters the pool. A candidate can pass 67 points but still have a CRS score below recent invitation thresholds.
Check funds, admissibility and destination
An eligible applicant may also need settlement funds and must be admissible to Canada. FSW applicants must plan to live outside Quebec because Quebec selects its own skilled workers. Review changing evidence requirements before submitting the profile and again after receiving an invitation.
